Owl Pellet Dissection
After a week of learning all about owls, we got to dissect owl pellets. We learned that owls do not have teeth and have to swallow their prey whole. As a result, they are left with items in their tummy which cannot be digested. Hence the owl pellet!
After sifting through the matted fur ball, we discovered bones! We found the skulls of mice, rats, birds, and even a shrew. No bones about it, this was a memorable day!
Spelling Bee
We had a spelling bee today with all of our words from the first nine weeks. After 13 rounds and having to dip into extra words that weren't on our list, we had three to make it to the final round!
Congratulations, super spellers! Don't let all these words you know how to spell "smother" you!

STEM- Jack and the Beanstalk Style
The giant put barbed wire around the beanstalk. We helped Jack find an alternate route down via a parachute.
Through teamwork and a little engineering, parachutes were constructed, trial runs were made, and parachutes were reconstructed.

The official launch was today. We didnt let the damp weather dampen our parachute plan. After dropping and timing each team's parachute, we had two that made it into the finals who took over 2 seconds to land.
The winners of the parachute project were our only team of two. Their parachute took 2.67 seconds to land safely.
